Try the calzones. I usually get the white calzone. They have buy one get on half off on Wednesdays.

I have family in Lake Alfred so this is a good place in between my house and their house to meet. My parents also love it. It is definitely geared toward an older crowd. In the winter, the place is packed at 5pm and desolate by 7pm. I actually think they close at 7 or 8. The atmosphere is nothing special. Booths and tables, but they have big tables to accommodate groups and the prices are extremely reasonable. So, my friends and I have stopped by after work, though we are usually the youngest ones there. Anyway, the key here is knowing what to order. Their pizza here is really solid. They do an all you can eat pizza buffet one day a week and that is yummy and a good deal. The salads here are massive. They are made with iceberg, but the chef salad has cheese and ham, and they do a great vinaigrette for their house dressing. So, I'll go with mom and dad for the pizza buffet or the 3 of us will get a chef salad and a pizza to share. The calzones and pizza wheels are massive and amazing. If you stick with the Italian stuff you'll probably be pleased.

Came for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The line moved quickly and we were seated within 10-15min (10:30am). Our waiter, Cisco, was nice and attentive. They bring you order on a rolling cart so everyone gets served together. All our orders came out quickly and without error. The coffee is good (royal cup) and was refilled constantly. The staff was all friendly. The food is good..not great but, by no means, bad. Pretty straightforward menu. We did not try their breakfast buffet but a lot of the patrons where enjoying it. Left feeling satisfied and breakfast for four ran us $30. No tummy aches and its been 12 hours. Would definitely return if back in the area.

Much improved over the old place. Really great home style cooking. The fried green tomatoes are first rate. The Cuban sandwich was really good and my kids loved the calzones

A nice homey atmosphere, seems to cater to a more "mature" audience. Nonetheless our meal was satisfying. Wait time was minimal, service was cordial. Buffet style is Saturday and Sunday so we will have to try that then. Other than that the meal and the service was good!

If yer, pushing 80, in your wheelchair, with no taste-buds and love to be called "Sunny" than this is the place for you!!! Perhaps, you can have them feed you thru a tube, cause frankly it's not worth even chewing the food in your month. In fact, I think, food from a tube in the hospital tastes better than what they serve. Actually, maybe this is really a senior citizens retirement home in disguise. That would explain a lot!

This place is packed to the gills with older folks who must have worn out taste buds. The Restaurant is SOOOO dirty and tired. The same is true of the food. Gordon Ramsay would call this a kitchen nightmare for sure but the older clientele seem to love it. The restaurant itself is SO DAMN DIRTY it would make your head spin. The dingy red carpet looks like it hasn't been cleaned in decades. I was there on St. Patricks day and my corned beef came out swimming in the stock they boiled it in. It looked like instead of picking it out of the pot they just poured it into my dish. Kitchen nightmare material BIGTIME!

So, the thing is, this place does some business and it has its following with older Boomers and Seniors. I think it has to do with location, and the prices are reasonable. I was part of a group of 6, my first time here and the rest were "regulars." So I asked, what brings you here. "The food is good" and "filling." They were currently running specials (2 for 20) which include appetizer, entree, soup/salad. Overall the food is basic. Several different entrees ordered including ziti with meatballs, meatloaf, "Swiss steak" (hamburger without the bun), liver and onions. Liver and onions we drowned in gravy (it could have been decent) and the instant mash; the gravy tried to be a flavor enhancer (nope). The party seemed to enjoy the swiss steak, but again it was just a dressed up burger. The appetizer stuffed baked potato (bacon, cheese) was pulled from the freezer and was cooked too long. The overall quality was low average, but again people seem to come and like it here. Go figure. It may be that the people are friendly and people seem to know people. I look for quality, value, overall atmosphere, and service to name a few. With some well pointed tweaks this can be good quality food for the price. So, if you read Cathryn's review, she is close to the mark, I just could not give it three stars though.

If I am looking for a sit down breakfast, this is where I go. During the off season (where the northern visitors go back) it a nice quiet place to get a bit. Prices are reasonable and the food is good.

A German roach crawled across our table mid-service, honestly.

Very outdated... The food is mediocre at best. Not well prepared, not well-seasoned... And twice the price of other places we have been! I came here with my mom who is "older" and even she wasn't impressed. We won't be back. Sorry. :(

Ate here just before Christmas after visiting relatives in Winter Haven. Admittedly, many of the other patrons were AARP card wielders and the motif was out of the late 1950s. However, our family found it to be an oasis from the fast food norm. The food was not pulled out of a heating drawer nor prepared or served by apathetic teenagers. We found the food prepared like we would do so at home and at a reasonable price. If you're looking for a five star dining experience, you've pulled into the wrong place. If you are looking for just plain cooking served in a homey place, you've found your spot. And by the way, I have no problem being called "hunny" or "sweety" by the mature, friendly waitresses there!

eh, wasn't impressed. I had an omelette, it wasn't the best. Friend ordered chicken florentine, plain chicken breast with a little spinach, tomatoes and onoins covered with a piece of provolone ... looked nasty and the plate had a ton of water on it, not sure why.

This place has run it's course. I gave it two chances and it disappointed miserably each time. The place is dingy. The food is as mediocre as the service. I just don't understand why the seniors keep going there.
